Frequently asked questions: |
What exactly do you do as
a professional organizer?
I enable my clients
to live a simpler, happier life by bringing order to their
belongings, their homes, and their offices. I guide,
encourage and educate my clients, empowering them to get
organized and stay organized, for life!
What will working with you do for me?
Getting organized can reduce your stress and sense of being
overwhelmed, increase your productivity, and ensure that you
have time to spend on what's truly important to you. It puts you
back in control of your home, time, and life.
How long have you been
organizing?
I've been organizing full-time now since July 2004, and I
absolutely love it!
I need your
help! How do we begin?
Review
my services, then call me at (804)
330-0997 and tell me about your situation. I'll be happy to
answer any questions you have, then we can schedule an
appointment.
Is there
anything I need to do or buy before you arrive?
No. In fact, I tell
my clients not to even pick up the house or office before I
arrive, as it's helpful to me to see it as it is on a daily
basis. And please don't buy any organizing products, as I won't
know what's appropriate until we start working in each area.
Are you going
to make me throw away a bunch of my stuff?
I will never throw
anything away without your permission. What I will do is ask you
questions, give you suggestions, and help you come to your own
decisions about what is important enough to you to keep. And I
encourage you to donate items that are gently used and in good
repair. I love to see clients bless others with their
over-abundance!
What if I need
containers or organizers?
I'm very familiar
with all kinds of organizing products, most of which can be
found in local stores. I can either give you a list of the best
products for your situation and where to find them, or you can
opt to have me shop for you. I charge my normal hourly fee for
shopping, and you can reimburse me for the cost of the products.
I also carry a few products in my vehicle, for which I charge
cost plus a small markup.
I'd like to
get your help, but I'm embarrassed for anyone to see my mess.
How do I handle this?
Please understand that I am very compassionate, and never
judgmental. I'm here to help you, and I feel very blessed to be
able to help people in this way. I know your mess feels awful to
you, but it's often not as bad as you might initially think. And
it's all fixable!
Will everything I tell or show you be kept confidential?
Absolutely! I adhere to a strict code of ethics set forth by the
National Association of Professional Organizers
(NAPO), of which
I'm a member. Integrity, honesty, and confidentiality are
extremely important to me, and are guiding principles of NAPO.
If I'm not
interested in your services right now, is there anything else
you can offer me to help me get organized?
Absolutely! No
matter where you live, sign up for my e-newsletter for free
